AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): The massive MGNREGA scam of Bishalghar Rural Development block worth Rs 17 crore is still remain unrevealed even after 18 days of filing FIR. Since the beginning police have been acting as mute spectators. According to the sources, the ruling government and the other party heads of Melarmath have been working hard to conceal this mega rip-off. According to a communiqué inside block, the amount of Rs 17 crore may be increased and over 80 block employees are involved into the MGNREGA scam. The source also confirmed that a vast number of CPIM Local Committee (LC) leaders are allegedly engaged with this scam. Recently the name of Tripura Finance Minister and local MLA- Bhanulal Saha was suspected for his direct involvement in this scam.In a press conference, the opposition leader- Sudip Roy Barman revealed all the special hidden audit reports on massive scam worth Rs 17 crore towards the public on September 18. After that, to get relief from bitter criticism of the state people, the ruling party directed the incumbent BDO of Bishalghar RD block to register an FIR.

Though the FIR has been lodged against the then BDO of Bishalghar block- Bimal Chakraborty and 11 other block officials on Sept 19, police still remained silent on this issue. Police could not interrogate anybody of the FIR named persons, arrest is still at large. Even the Tripura Chief Minister is also maintaining strange silence on this scam.
Earlier, the Congress and BJP submitted separate memorandums to the Tripura Governor- PB Acharya pertaining to mega scam worth Rs 17 crore. The Congress has also demanded for CBI probe into this scam. After Eid and Laxmi puja, Congress and BJP will stage massive protest across Tripura on mega scam issue.
According a communiqué inside Bishalghar police station, the progress of investigation into this MGNREGA scam case is still stand at zero. Police are busy with puja, Eid and UD cases.
