AGARTALA, Feb 9 (TIWN): Promising 7th Pay Commission to be implemented from 2016 for employees and pensioners, there has been no hike of the pensions yet, but with a shocking move, the State BJP Govt has imposed taxes on the pensions which was never done under previous CPI-M and Congress Govt. Already pensioners are in bank rows to ask why their pensions are not hiked, rather slashed and then it is recorded from salary books that the Govt will be slashing taxes from the pensioners from now, which has depressed the pensioners with the increasing price hikes of the commodities. Reports say that no pensioner has received their hiked pensions yet on the 2nd month of the year, but their pensions are now part of Govt revenue. It has triggered huge tension among the pensioners in Tripura.BJP-IPFT Govt in the name of 7th Pay Commission had hiked 0.32 factor of the salary, a 14% of the total salary. The effect instead of the promised 2016 was given from 2018’s October, but for the whole year no salary was increased, whereas till now there is no development for the pensioners.

The BJP Govt has brought another new rule for new job holders announcing since 2018, July 1st whoever have joined Govt jobs under the State Govt will not be felicitated with pensions after they retire.

State Govt in it’s notification said, “Pension liabilities growing over years. The situation has been aggravated as there is no asset to back this liabilities… Pension  liabilities of the Govt of Tripura has been increased from Rs. 267.35 croes  in 2006-07 Rs.1606.01 which Is 6 times jump in the pension expenditure…The State govt has approved the new defined contributory pension scheme to all to all new entrants to state govt service joining on or after 2018, July 1st”.

The New NPS (National Pension Scheme) will also be applicable for fixed pay employees under the state govt who are being appointed to a fixed post appointed created by keeping regular pay post in abeyance on or after July 1st, 2018.

Thus employees joined since July 1st will not come under Central Civil Services rules 1972 as adopted by the Govt of of Tripura. They will not be entitled to GPF (General Provident Fund).

After BJP led State Govt in Tripura has decided to adopt a New Pension Scheme followed by the National Pension scheme-2004, huge resentments have been brewed among the new job holders as from 2018 (BJP Govt) whoever was appointed under Govt Depts will not be benefited by whole-life pension facility.

Earlier CPI-M ruled Tripura and Trinamool ruled Bengal only had that unique facility for the job holders but now only the West Bengal is the state gives pensions. When BJP is challenging Mamata Banerjee’s Govt, it’s for sure once BJP to be in power Bengal’s pension facility to be removed. Moreover, with a shocking outcome it has been known, no pensioner has received their hiked pensions yet on the 2nd month of the year. This has too triggered huge tension among the pensioners in Tripura. Already in the name of 7th Pay Commission a huge JUMLA was given to the Govt job holders. BJP-IPFT Govt in the name of 7th Pay Commission had hiked 0.32 factor of the salary, a 14% of the total salary.

The effect instead of the promised 2016 was given from 2018’s October, but for the whole year no salary was increased, whereas till now there is no development for the pensioners, but added by “Tax Contribution”.
