Citizenship Bill : Oppositions Cut motion, Tripura MP cites 36 reasons for rejecting amendment

New Delhi / Agartala, Feb 1 (TIWN): Ahead of the debate on the Citizenship Bill in the Parliament today, the Opposition has decided to up the ante against the Centre and MP Jitendra Chaudhury has rejected the motion with 36 reasons.

The statement came from the Parliament of MP Jitendra Chaudhury, where he says, “I beg to move the amendments as follows ; This House disapprove the Motion of Thanks  due to having NO MENTION of the following burning issues of the people and the country in the address of His Excellency the President of India, delivered in the Joint Session of the Parliament on the 31st January, 2019.

  1. The severe unemployment situation in the country, which is the highest during last four decades.
  2. The prevailing agrarian crisis, which has further aggravated during last four and a half years leading to committing suicide by farmers almost in every half an hour.
  3. The spiralling Price Rise, which has been affecting to each and every household in the country.
  4. The unholy attack upon the educational system of the country, undermining the autonomy of the Universities, University Grant Commission and other Premiere Institutions by dismantling its secular, inclusive and democratic structures.
  5. The unusual situation arose in the entire North East as fall out of the Government's ill designed and politically motivated attempt to pass "Citizenship Amendment Bill-2016."
  6. Having no mention of the Government's initiative to include the "KOK-BOROK" in the 8th Schedule by amending the Constitution of India.
  7. Having no mention of the Government's initiative to empower the Autonomous Councils of North East by amending the Constitution of India.
  8. The semi-fascist terror regime and total lawlessness prevailing in the State of Tripura since 4th March, 2018 under BJP-IPFT rule.
  9. Having no mention of the Government's autocratic intervention upon the freedom of press, very particularly suspension of publication of DAILY DESHER KATHA a progressive daily of more than 40 years in Tripura, TRIPURAINFOWAY an web portal and detention of a Journalist in Manipur, namely Kishore Chandra Wangkhem under National Security Act.
  10. Having no mention of the Government's initiative to release the Assam Rifles' Ground at Agartala for the purpose of Sports and Cultural activities as demanded by the people of Tripura.
  11. Having no mention of Government’s initiative to link between Agartala-Sabroom Railway track and the Chittagong Sea Port of Bangladesh in order to boost the economy of entire North East by linking with South Asia.
  12. Having no mention of Government’s initiative to set up a Railway Division and branch of Railway Recruitment Board in Tripura.
  13. Having no mention of the Governments’s initiative to improve the existing and declared National Highways passing through the State of Tripura.
  14. Having no mention of the Government’s initiative to improve air services by deploying adequate number of flights between Agartala-Kolkata and other sectors of North East.
  15. Having no mention of the Government's initiative to fulfil its commitment to implement the "Act East Policy" with right perspectives.
  16. Having no mention of the Government's initiative on the holistic implementation of "Naga Peace Accord", which is leading towards mounting confusion and doubts among the minds of the people of North East Region.
  17. Having no mention of the Government's initiative to frame a comprehensive National Youth and Sports Policy.
  18. Having no mention of the Government's initiative to resolve the decades long social, political and economic crisis prevailing in the majority of Adivasi infected areas in the mainland of the country.
  19. Having no mention of the Government's anti-people and unconstitutional move to gradually diluting the MG-NREGA by depriving crores of rural households in the country.
  20. Having no mention of the Government's apathy towards proper implementation of Forest Right Act, 2006 by denying the rights of millions of Adivasi and Forest Dweller families in the country.
  21. Having no mention of the plight of crores of Scheme Workers in the country, who are suffering from low wages and illegitimate right under labour laws.
  22. Having no mention of the Government's desire to pass the Women’s' Reservation Bill.
  23. The devious effort by the Government to pre-empt the Supreme Court 'to remove the status-quo on the non-disputed land' that had acquired in Ayodhya.
  24. " Rafale Scam" the irregularities and the alleged multi-million dollar corruption.
  25. Undermining the independence of Reserve Bank of India, which has led to a total anarchy in Indian economy.
  26. Abusing the power of the institutions like Central Vigilance Commission and Central Bureau of Investigation by the Government for partisan interests.
  27. Continuous increase of the prices of petroleum and diesel, which surpassed all past records.
  28. The menace of demonetisation, which has crippled the economy and swallowed of lakhs of job.
  29. The act of State Terrorism upon the 'Dissenters', which is violating the civil and constitutional right of the citizens on everyday basis.
  30. Spiralling "Price of LPG", which is affecting every household and very particularly the women in the country.
  31. Desperate attempt to privatise Air India, the National Carrier by pushing thousands of workers towards retrenchment and huge economic loss.
  32. Having no mention of the increasing number of incidents of atrocities taking place across the country upon the Adivasis and Dalits.
  33. Having no mention of the Government's initiative to return black money from the abroad.
  34. Having no mention of the Government's initiative to bring a legislation to ensure the reservation in promotion for ST and SCs in service and reservation in Private sectors.
  35. Having no mention of the plight of lakhs of farmers, who will be subjected to the threat of becoming landless due to indiscriminate land acquisition in the name of unviable projects like Bullet Train and different Industrial Corridors in the country.
  36. Having no mention of the menace of communal frenzy erupted across the country due to the subversive activities unleashed by Sangh Parivar in the name of Ghar-Wapsi, Gau-Rakshak and otherwise”.
