AGARTALA, Jan 20 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has visited late Shuku Gour’s house, who was killed brutally by setting fire cracker on head by BJP miscreants on Kali puja night. Sarkar met the family members, demanded action against the culprits. Addressing media, Manik Sarkar said that Shukhu Gour was a Govt employee in the Secretariat but his wife already became overage whereas children are still school students. “According to the new die-in-harness policy of the State Govt, I don’t know whether the family will be eligible for getting a livelihood from the Govt side and his wife who is over 40 is just 5 passed. Thus, I draw the attention of the State Govt to consider the matter on the background of critical condition of the family. The widow has got two days MGNREGA works in this month, which is not sufficient and also by MGNREGA work only the family can not bear the daily expenses. Moreover, all the local people have gathered today massively and everybody has condemned the brutal incident. Proper investigation should be done in this case or people will totally lose their faith on the Govt and Rule of Law”. CPI-M leaders as Pabitra Kar, Manik Dey also visited with Manik Sarkar. The former Chief Minister also criticized the pressure-system on public in the name of religious programmes.

According to the media briefing before Manik Sarkar, Shukhu Gour’s wife said that after the incident the miscreants left him in home and didn’t inform anybody. On the next the family came to know and after two days, he was hospitalized.

From GB hospital after 12 days, he was released and he started going to office in critical condition but one day after returning from office, he felt very weak and anyhow little lunch he did but after that his body started shivering. Immediately he was taken to GB hospital but doctors declared him dead.

The brutal murder of Shukhu Gour with fire cracker by ruling party activists have been condemned statewide, protested by CPI-M.

On yesterday, massive protest rally was organized on Saturday afternoon by CPI-M led by leader Pabitra Kar, MP Shakar Prasad Datta. The protest was held when in the name of Kali puja, ruling BJP activists have killed an innocent man in Tripura by burning fire crackers on his head.

The incident took place at Durjoynagar area near Airport PS on November 7 after one local Suku Gour of Durjoynagar denied to donate for Kali puja donation.

After Shuku Gour denied to give the donation due to his poverty, he was brought in front of the Kali puja pandal and on his head the fire cracker was burnt. On the next day he was admitted in GB when he was suffering from headache. For long 1 month, he was under treatment at GB. After that he was sent back to home. But on Thursday night bleeding started from his ear, admitted in GB but doctors could not save him.

But till now no action was taken against the miscreants, whereas only one person Bhutan Dhar produced himself before the court.

There is nobody in the family to earn right now.  Due to various threats, the family is undergoing lack of security feeling.
