AGARTALA, Jan 10 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had asked State Govt’s reply on the Jirania police firing incident, whereas regional parties demanded action against police, but so far BJP led State Govt is silent on the issue. However, IPFT Minister Mebar Jamatia on Thursday holding a press conference told media that it was INPT, CPI-M and other parties which are responsible for that whole episode and demanded investigation.

500 persons names were booked in suo moto case whereas against police so far no action.

On Tuesday irresponsible police department suddenly started firing on NESO backed students who were agitating on National Highway against the controversial Citizenship Bill. Unnecessarily BJP picketers allegedly entered there amid police’s presence and attempted to stop the protest and clear the national highway led a clash erupted among two groups. Without prior announcement police started firing on the agitators, left 6 innocent youths injured critically whereas 1 is referred outside the state for better treatment.

INPT, IPFT (Tipraha) and Tiprasa people regardless political identities have announced protest in coming days. State Govt yet to deliver any statement and Chief Minister cum Home Minister Biplab Deb totally avoided the issue, neither visited GB hospital to meet the victims.

It can be mentioned here that before Assembly Election IPFT with thousands of Tiprasa supporters for 10 days blocked national highway in Tipraland demands, railway whereas Biplab Deb Govt has failed to control a few hours protest.

Moreover, when SP West Ajit Pratap Singh is now trying to defend himself, when BJP attacked oppositions in broad day light during election times from Dukli to Mohonpur area, SP West didn’t take any action when similar attacks were done on common men and opposition in last 10 months. Police also were silent in each stone pelting incidents in Udaipur, Dukli like places but what situation created that police who is known as “savior” turned “dictator” at Jiranai?
