No Action against Police in Madhabbari firing incident : Police lodged suo moto case against 500 Tiprasa people

AGARTALA / JIRANIA, Jan 10 (TIWN): With a major setback for indigenous supporting regional parties and student organization INPT and TSF under Biplab Deb led Police Dept have registered cases against 500 Tiprasa youths in Ranir Bazar and Jirania police stations, who are members of INPT and TSF in Jirania’s Madhabbari police firing incident. 'Against TSF Secretary Bishu Debbarma, President Upendra Debbarma, leader Sunil Debbarma and around 500 TSF students the case was registered. Case No-4/19 under IPC 148/149 / 333/ 153/ 307/ 436 427 is under investigation', daily newspaper Tripra Darpan reported. But till now, which police officials were involved in this firing on students, no clarification yet has come in this regard, whereas there are demand from regional parties for suspension of SP West AJit Pratapa Singh who led the whole firing episode without announcement.

NESO, IPFT Tipraha calling press conference has condemned the whole episode and almost all pollical parties have condemned the overall incident including looting of shops, setting fire on houses whereas police firing was on the top list of condemnation.  There was also a charge additionally imposed National Highway Act & Arms Act 27.

Section 144 has been continuing at Jirania since 6 youths left injured in police firing. 1 is under life support, 5 seriously injured undergoing treatment. National Highway busy routes of Jirania now turned empty, less crowded and section 144 has been continuing across the West District’s sensitive zones after Tuesday’s violence.

Huge numbers of police personnel have been deployed on spot, checking each vehicle and person crossing through the route. This unwanted situation was erupted since yesterday after police firing injured 6 Tiprasa students at there who were agitating against Citizenship Bill as a part of Northeast-wide protest called by NESO.

When the youths were staging demonstrations on National Highway, allegedly BJP picketers rushed to the spot led a clash. Police thrown tear gas and without announcement started firing led by SP West Ajit Pratap Singh. The SP himself is seen today present on spot whereas no action has been taken against Singh yet, rather FIR was lodged against 3 persons with allegations of peace-disruptions during strike.

Internet service remained shutdown across Tripura and to be continued till tomorrow at least.
