AGARTALA, Dec 24 (TIWN): With a major development, two NLFT militants have surrendered welcoming the main stream of lives. In a series of surrender of NLFT (BM) Sanjay Tripura (Sudhyanya), S/O-Manojoy Tripura, resident of Khagendra Roaja Para, PS-Ambassa (Dhalai District), who was an active NLFT cadre along with his Assistant Hiranjoy Tripura (Lambo), S/O-Grahanjoy Tripura, resident of Village-Khagchangkami, PS- Chawmonu, (Dhalai District). The cadres got listed in the group of insurgents vide Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) at S.No-64. His assistant Hinranjoy Tripura joined NLFT (BM) in 2017 and for used for administrative activities by the outfit. The surrender process got materialized due to regular followups and constant motivations by DG G Team Ambassa under SGQ Tilamura, when Sanjay Tripura driven by his desire to lead a peaceful life, denounced the path of militancy and agreed to surrender.

In recent years, large numbers of NLFT (BM) cadres had surrendered before BSF and other SFs, which indicates erosion of mass public support and re-established the faith of the cadre in the constitution of the country.

In the year 2017, 5 cadres of NLFT (BM) and in the year 2018, 9 insurgents of the same cadre total 14 have surrendered before BSF.

Sources of BSF said, many more cadres will be joining the mainstream in the near future.

BSF in press release mentioned, “The state of Tripura has been facing insurgency in the last four decades. The aggrieved indigenous tribal people of the state realized that they are being socially, economically marginalized by outsiders, they took up arms against the state. The insurgency initially was superheaded by Tripura National volunteers (TNV), All Tripura Tiger Forces (ATTF), who later surrendered before security forces in 1988, when tripartite agreement was signed. Therefore the NLFT further resumed insurgency in 1989. With constant counter insurgency effort of both the State and Central Govt, the insurgency has reached now to a dying stage and remnant part of the insurgents have started sending signals for surrender”.
