AGARTALA, Dec 7 (TIWN): Opposition CPI-M on Friday led by Tripura MPs Jitendra Chaudhury, Shankar Prasad Datta and top leaders as Badal Choudhury, Narayan Kar, Pabitra Kar, Manik Dey have gheraoed Tripura Police’s headquarter all of a sudden to protest against Police’s inaction, behaving like BJP’s slave, for which police were not at all prepared. The rage of the opposition party was after massive attacks, physical tortures, vandalizing of houses, damages to public properties, burning of party offices, snatching nominations, hospitalizing CPI-M Municipal Election candidates, death of Bijoy Borua and many more murders in the recent days amid police's silent role over such crimes. From attack upon various heavyweight leaders of CPI-M repeatedly including Ex-Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Jitendra Chaudhury, Manik Dey, Badal Chaudhury nobody was arrested even though viral videos of the culprits were all in all in social media.

Earlier, in Panchayat Election, CPI-M, Congress and other opposition partyies due to broad day light rigging could not submit nominations led BJP to occupy 96% seats without contest whereas in this ongoing Municipal Election also same is going on and BJP with open attacks upon oppositions grabbed 67 seats out of 158 seats. From State Election Commission to Tripura Police all have been mute spectator of such incidents, whereas in many attacks during nomination submission, police's nexus with BJP activists were exposed.

Many times, the opposition leaders met state police high authorities, but each time even after promising to safeguard oppositions, police played a puppet-role in ruling BJP's hand.

In case of Jirania violence during nomination submission and attack upon CPI-M Ex-Minister Manik Dey, SP West Ajit Pratap Sing's dirty role was alleged. When CPI-M leaders called SP, he allegedly said, "Who attacked you ? The bikers (BJP Yuva Morcha leaders)?" CPI-M said, SP knew the upcoming attack on CPI-M and as a result nobody except BJP could submit nominations for the Municipal election.

Role of DGP A K Shukla, Additional DGP Rajiv Singh have been same since Panchayat lection. From Bishalgarh attack upon Ex-CM Manik Sarkar to ongoing violence in Melaghar and Udaipur, the police surprisingly couldn't play any role neutrally. At Dukli, during Panchayat Poll, even 5 police officials were injured, but BJP MLA Ram Prasad Pal in front of media threatened SDPO at there for imposing lathi charge on the attackers.

On November 29, one eminent lawyer Promod Ranjan Modok was murdered brutally in his own house, but till now nobody was arrested and the Chief Minister is also silent on such ongoing crimes.

At Belonia, Santir Bazar, Udaipur almost all the candidates houses were entered by miscreants by covering faces with black clothes, threatened them to withdraw nominations or they will burn their houses. Houses were vandalized, men, women were injured and old woman also came under their attacks, but police didn’t take any action, whereas in Gandachera in such an attack police registered fabricated cases against the victims after they complained against the miscreants.

With all these, CPI-M have gheraoed the police station for hours. The party activists raised voice with demands as 1) Arrest the culprits who attacked the opposition candidates and vandalized their houses, 2) To control law and order neutrally, 3) Buildup democracy at the earliest.
