AGARTALA, Nov 8 (TIWN): Maintaining their centuries-old tryst with Tripura, migratory birds have started arriving here from far off lands to spend the winter months in the relatively less harsh cold of the land.

Tripura has been always a special host for migratory birds during the winter period.

Migratory birds migrate into another place because of scarcity of food , climatic change, habitation(nesting) problem.

Birds are quite intelligent in indentifying locations. They find place by sight, smell. Navigate by observing the positions of sun, stars and also moon in few cases. Sometimes they use the magnetic waves of the earth as well.

Several migratory birds pay visits to a little beautiful part of this Northeast INDIA i.e. Tripura.

Especially they fancy occupying the lakes of the state.

Significant Venues are:

Sipahijala(District Sipahijala).

Dambur Hydel Project Lake(District Dhalai)

Gomati Wildlife (Gomati District)

Roa Wildlife Sanctuary(South Tripura District).
