AGARTALA, Aug 25 (TIWN): Tripura’s tribal party Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) has demanded, like Assam NRC should be implemented in Tripura too but the base year of NRC should not be from 1971, according to the pact signed by Indira-Mujib; rather INPT has demanded NRC counting from year 1951 and the people and family came after 1951 should be pushed back from Tripura. A protest was staged at Astabol Stadium in this regard with various demands and among all the demands, the NRC has been on the top. At the same time, INPT has demanded cancellation of Citizenship Bill 2016, more power to ADC, to begin inner permit for ADC, all land of tribals occupied from 1960 should be returned, all captured lands by tribals should be allocated to them, no-non tribal should get land under 6th schedule, reservation should be increased from 31 % to 32 % for ST, work opportunity in tribal areas and double rationing system.INPT further asked the BJP led State Govt that all places’, rivers and monuments' names which are known with Bengali-names must be to converted into Kokborok names.
Even though there are the impossible outcomes of their demands that NRC should be from 1951 but to gain the political focus leader Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl has called media for NRC from 1951.
At the same time INPT has demanded more reservation for tribals and to filling up the posts as fast as possible. They have also mentioned the controversial term “Bhumi Putra” only for Tipra, whereas the majority is Bengali people, children here who born in Tripura and rooted in Tripura.
