AGARTALA, July 30 (TIWN): The Congress's Tripura unit put up posters across the Agartala city, calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "bhagidar" (partner) in the Rafale "scam".

A massive protest rally was organized by Congress Seva Dal here on the streets of Agartala.

Alleging multiple violations in the deal that could compromise India’s national security, the Congress said that both the prime minister and defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman “lied” to the nation in order to favour the Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Infrastructure Limited.

The BJP-led Union government was doing everything possible to avoid disclosing the price of 36 Rafale aircraft purchased from France, Congress State President Birjit Sinha alleged.

All India Congress Seva Dal Chief Organiser Lalji Desai who has arrived here in Tripura on Monday also walked in the rally. He raised slogan of, “Pehele Laree the Gouro se (with British), Ab larenge Chouro se”.

Noteworthy, Anil Ambani had written to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi earlier this week, refuting allegations of lack of experience, and stating that the government had no role in French Group Dassault picking up his company as a local partner.

Rahul Gandhi has been attacking the government on the deal which he claims was inked at a much higher price than the one the UPA regime had negotiated.
