'Tripura undergoing a rule of Jungle' : Manik Sarkar

AGARTALA, July 27 (TIWN): Tripura Ex-CM, Opposition leader Manik Sarkar on Thursday while visiting at Udaipur following the political clash on July 24, said, “Here is no rule of Law in Tripura, but the state is facing rule of Jungle”.

Above 100 CPI-M activists were attacked on Tuesday (July 24)  while walking in a rally without permission as a part of nation-wide protest of Left Parties. 

CPI-M leaders led by Ex Minister Badal Choudhury, Ratan Bhowmik, Ex-MLA Madhab Saha were also walking in the rally at Udaipur which was a part of the national protest led by MPs and 5 Left parties at New Delhi before the Parliament. 

Addressing media, Manik Sarkar said, “Today democracy is under threat and same is going on at West Bengal where 35 % seats are won in Panchayat election by ruling party without any election. It proves where democracy stands”.

Protesting against Tripura and West Bengal violence here CPI-M held the protest rally and there also they were attacked.

“Not only in rally but various houses were attacked on that day. This Udaipur incident proves how the fundamental rights of people are under attack”, Manik Sarkar added.

“Police do not belong to any political party. It must work independently and our protest rally was a national level protest. Police must set rule of law, not Jungle Raj”, he said.
