AGARTALA, July 26 (TIWN): Ex-CM Manik Sarkar has visited Gomati District Hospital on Thursday to meet the injured Communist activists who were injured on July 24 in a rally by unknown miscreants.
Above 100 CPI-M activists were attacked on Tuesday (July 24) while walking in a rally without permission as a part of nation-wide protest of Left Parties.
CPI-M leaders led by Ex Minister Badal Choudhury, Ratan Bhowmik, Ex-MLA Madhab Saha were also walking in the rally at Udaipur which was a part of the national protest led by MPs and 5 Left parties at New Delhi before the Parliament.
Addressing media, Manik Sarkar said, “Today democracy is under threat and same is going on at West Bengal where 35 % seats are won in Panchayat election by ruling party without any election. It proves where democracy stands”.
Protesting against Tripura and West Bengal violence here CPI-M held the protest rally and there also they were attacked.
“Not only in rally but various houses were attacked on that day. This Udaipur incident proves how the fundamental rights of people are under attack”, Manik Sarkar added.
