AGARTALA, July 26 (TIWN Exclusive): Since 2 days Tripura ruling BJP is nurturing a half truth propaganda saying ‘Tripura is among 5 states which tops in Good Governance’. Wrong ! It’s is not at all ! However, Public Affairs Index has given two lists : one was for large states and few were for small states and hence from 2017 under CPI-M era to 2018’s 3 months of BJP era has listed Tripura’s name in 5th position in case of “Smaller states”, not all 29 states. According to Public Affairs Index (PAI) 2018, Kerala tops the list as best-governed state in the country followed by Tamil Nadu. The index was released by the think tank Public Affairs Centre (PAC). Kerala has topped PAI as the best-governed state for the third consecutive year since 2016. Kerala has topped the list, followed by Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka and Gujarat.

Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar ranked the lowest, indicating higher social and economic inequalities in the states.

In case of smaller states Himachal Pradesh topped the list followed by Goa, Mizoram, Sikkim and Tripura. Nagaland, Manipur and Meghalaya were ranked at bottom of the index among small states. Moreover the list was  counted since 2017’s June to this June.

Kerala is in top position of the index instead of BJP’s claim of violence at there and Tripura CM’s donation of Rs. 5 lakh to RSS victim.

The top five states in the order of their ranking are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka. Of these, Kerala is governed by the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front, Tamil Nadu by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Telangana by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and Karnataka by a Janata Dal (Secular)-Congress combine.

The top 10 list includes all the southern states–none of which are governed by the BJP. Four states in this list are governed by the BJP and two by its chief opponent, the Congress (singly or in a coalition). Andhra Pradesh, ruled by the Telugu Desam Party, was placed ninth.

But here in Tripura misinterpretation is going on after BJP through official press conference declared that Tripura tops 5th in Governance and claiming the report was done with 2018’s report, whereas it was done from 2017 (CPI-M’s era) to 2018-June (3 months of BJP Govt).
