UDAIPUR, July 24 (TIWN): Above 100 CPI-M activists faced an attack on Tuesday while walking in rally without permission as a part of nation-wide protest of Left Parties. CPI-M leaders led by Ex Minister Badal Choudhury, Ratan Bhowmik, Ex-MLA Madhab Saha were also walking in the rally at Udaipur which was a part of the national protest led by MPs and 5 Left parties at New Delhi before the Parliament. According to CPI-M’s statement, till yesterday night Badal Choudhury, Ratan Bhowmik and other top leaders were trying to get permission for the rally in Udaipur, but police did not give them permission. As a result CPI-Ms decided to walk without permission. When the rally was entering the New Town Road, they were attacked by miscreants in group. The activists escaped anyhow, whereas 7 to 8 CPI-M activists left injured. One police personnel was also injured during the clash. Police is going file case against CPI-M leaders who participated in the rally, but nobody was arrested till now for the attack.
While addressing media, SP A R Reddy said, ‘As Chief Minister will hold a review meeting today and thinking about the law and order situation, police could not give the permission for the rally”.
SP also confirmed a specific case to be filed against CPI-M leaders and activists.
CPI-M leaders said, "It's a nation-wide protest in which whole India participated. Why in case Udaipur permission shouldn't be given ?"
The mob attack upon CPI-M activists taken place after BJP Yuva Morcha leader Joylal Das asked openly BJP activists (On July 22, Sabroom BJP Yuva Morcha conference) to break legs and hands of CPI-M activists. Joylal also threatened opposition that BJP will not permit them to submit nominations for the Panchayat Election.
