AGARTALA, July 21 (TIWN): Tripura Health Minister Sudip Barman on Saturday has revealed his planning to convert Hapania located TMC into AIIMS. Earlier CM Biplab Deb alone had visited Budhjung Nagar area aiming to set up AIIMS hospital at there. CM’s lone visit at Budhjung Nagar without Health Minister Sudip Barman was also criticized by opposition Congress leader Gopal Roy on Friday during NSUI rally. However, today both CM and the Health Minister visited TMC lined areas and Barman has expressed desires to convert TMC into AIIMS. Sudip Barman said that Hapania area of TMC will be better for AIIMS hospital’s location.“Visited TMC & TIPS adjoining areas today to evaluate the possibility of converting /taking over TMC to AIIMS. This place would be convenient for the people and also cost effective and would be nearer to the people in terms of distanceâ€, Sudip Barman said after the visit.
A power tussle has been suspected between CM and Health Minister as after the visit Chief Minister didn’t tweet anything about it.
Tripura Medical College is a college in Tripura. A recent development, it has been cited as being important towards social development in the state and Health Minister has selected it as the ideal location for AIIMS.
Central Govt has asked Tripura Govt to chose a location with at least 200 acre land.
