AGARTALA, July 16 (TIWN): Allegation raised against ruling BJP Govt for placing a faulty report in the State Assembly which conducted from June 19 to June 27 regarding how many party offices were bulldozed in Tripura since March 3rd. This was the second Assembly Session under the BJP Govt. The issue was raised by opposition Congress after around 20 days have been passed since the Assembly ended. Hitting the BJP Govt on that particular issue, Congress President Birjit Sinha said, “It’s quite surprising how a Govt can give false data in the Assembly. When questioned, the Govt said that only two (2) party offices of Congress have been bulldozed till day, whereas already 35 party offices were demolished. The victim is not only Congress but also other opposition parties faced same fates with their party officesâ€. “A Govt can’t give wrong answer or hide anything in Assembly. It’s dangerous for democracy and also warning how the new Govt may try to suppress and hide data in coming daysâ€, Birjit Sinha added. The Congress leader further said, party will try to take action against this wrong delivering.
BJP led state Govt after its first cabinet meeting on March 29 announced 6 decision and among the 6 decisions one was “Illegal land occupied by party offices will be sealed (bulldozed)”. The Govt also announced, “If any kind of favour is done to them or lacuna is found then in land allocation, actions will be taken (beyond party offices)”.
The bulldozing drive started first at Agartala Motor Stand on May 8. Above hundreds of CPI-M party offices have been also in list, whereas Congress claimed their 40 years, 70 years party offices were also bulldozed.
