AGARTALA, July 15 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Saturday while addressing in Ratha-Yatra celebration said, Tripura has been the first state which has introduced a zero-deficit budget in whole Northeast. “Assam like state, which is much developed led by Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal also couldn’t introduce the zero-deficit budget. We want to stand on own feet and at least we have dared to do so. Earlier, the previous govt could never imagine about zero-deficit budget for the state and they kept on raising complaints about central deprivation. Central will surely help if we face problem but at least we should try for it. A mother only supports her child when the child tries to stand on its own feet but when it crawls the mother doesn’t come forward. In this way, I am sure central govt will also help us, but we need to start the journey at least".

Earlier on June 24, the Chief Minister addressing in a mega-health camp in Dharmanagar expressing about how much tough times he faced during zero-deficit budget said, ‘Zero-deficit budget was unthinkable to economists before BJP Govt was in Tripura, but one economist told me to make a zero-deficit budget. Earlier above 1500 crores of deficit budget state Tripura witnessed, but today the budget has been placed as concrete which includes 7th pay commission”.

CM said, “Many people were scared asking me not to go for zero-deficit budget as in last year the deficit  was huge. They warned me that I will fall in problem in coming days if I make zero deficit. Both Finance Minister and Finance Secretary said it's hard to make a zero-deficit budget. People also called me mad as Muhammad bin Tughluq after I proposed it but today we have shown how to make a zero deficit budget".

Chief Minister on yesterday claimed that soon Tripura will emerge as a developed state and the state will not only able to provide job to own people but the outsiders also will get jobs.
