AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar on Friday said that Politburo member Manik Sarkar will join the agitation which will be staged before the parliament on July 24 as a part of protest against murder of ‘Democracy in Tripura and West Bengal’. Talking to TIWN, Bijan Dhar said, “We will try to launch massive agitations inside the state, whereas Politburo member Manik Sarkar will be present at Delhi to be a part of agitation in front of the Parliament”. CPI-M National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on July 8 had announced about the agitation which will be staged before the Parliament on July 24 ahead of the Parliament session’s beginning, whereas all the Left Parties as CPI, CPI-M(L), Forward Bloc like parties will also join the dais. The protest to mark a condemnation on behalf of Left Parties against Tripura’s lynching, terror and violence under Biplab Deb regime and also the lawless era of the West Bengal under Mamata Banerjee’s ruling.

Ruling BJP has termed the planned protest of CPI-M as an “intrigue” by Left Parties to malign the image of Tripura at national level.

CPI-M National General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on July 8 raised issues related to serious breakdown of Law & Order in a press meet organized at CPI-M Melarmath HQ.

Referring Tripura’s violence, Yechury said, “We have lost four of our comrades who were brutally murdered along with attacks upon activists and party offices”.

“Observing the ongoing violence in Tripura, we are telling the State govt to maintain the law and order, but State Govt has totally failed to maintain the law and order of the state which is evident from the lynching episodes with the rumour of child lifters and one of the Ministers (Ratan Lal Nath)  is actually involved in rumours. This is unprecedented that the State Govt which is responsible for the law and order of the state its own Minister who took oath under the constitution, is himself involved in such activities. Even the SC has condemned on observing on this matter”, Yechury told media here.

“It’s RSS/BJP which is patronizing the terror and violence in this area. So central committee of CPI-M has decided that we will organize a national level protest in this issue in front of the Parliament when the Parliament session begins, which will be organized by the Left Parties together against the murderer of democracy in Tripura & West Bengal”, Yechury added.

This mass demonstration will be held on 24th June ahead of Parliament session’s beginning targeting to make it a national issue, said Yechury.
