AGARTALA, July 10 (TIWN): After the State Govt in Tripura hiked 20 % fares, fresh notice has been circulated by state govt in offices dictating how the hiked Farewill be fixed in coming days. According to the recent notification, it has been said that in case of bus fare hikes total Rs. 58.3 paisa per km will be taken whereas in case of AC diesel bus 1.22 rupees will be taken from the passengers. AC-CNG buses will take charges at Rs. 78.40 paisa per km, whereas from CNG Non-AC bus passengers 55.15 paisa will be taken. However after the list has been out, question raises will any bus charge a passenger 2 rupees for 2 km ? How far state govt will check the day-to-day issues ? What about overloading buses ? Due to overloading tendency of the bus driver and conductor 1 hour's journey everyday turns 2.30 hours journey ? In case of ‘Public Carriage (Good Transport) rate shall be fixed at Rs. 47.84 paisa only per quintal per kilometer (applicable for the distance of loading to unloading point). In case of rate for contract carriages LMV (Diesel) shall be fixed at Rs. 10.59 paisa only per kilometer for full capacity.

Opposition Congress has already come in protest since the 20 % fare was hiked. After BJP led state govt hiked 20 % of fare in transport, Congress leader Gopal Roy claimed, such a fare hike has been inexperienced in last 71 years of independence.

“In excuse of fare hike, Transport Minister said that due to petrol / diesel price hike the transport charge has been hiked, but the fuel price was hiked by the BJP Govt only which is right now in demand for down”, the Congress leader said.

However, now question raises, according to State Govt per km non-AC bus will take 58.3 paisa. Does it mean after going 2 km a passenger will give only around 2 rupees ? Who will take care of rights of travelers after hiking price at burning margins ?
