AGARTALA, June 9 (TIWN): Tripura CPI-M has demanded immediate introduction of reservation system for SC/ST in case of promotion on roster basis.

CPI-M MP Jitendra Chaudhury led by GMP placed a deputation to Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, according Supreme Court in case of job-promotions SC, ST reservation system must be followed now. 

According to SC’s order reservation should be given in case of promotions according to rosters, said MP Jitendra Choudhury.

Noteworthy, the Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed it to go ahead with reservation in promotion for employees belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories in "accordance with law".

The government had earlier planned to introduce a bill in the monsoon session of Parliament to incorporate the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution, laws under which cannot be challenged in courts.

After the hearing of SC, Tripura CPI-M has also demanded to launch the system in Tripura soon.

Earlier, Tripura CPI-M Govt faced a case in the Supreme for promoting SC, ST on reservation basis.
