Malaria makes comeback, two more die

AGARTALA, September 6 (TIWN): Two more were killed in the malaria parasite attacks in Tripura in a startling comeback. The final figure of deaths caused by the malaria parasite attack today crissed 89, total figures of identified malaria infection cases crossed 52,228 as on Saturday, an official communiqué stated.

Khemanti Reang (02), daughter of Amanjoy Reang of Bilaiham village under Teliamura sub-division died without institutional treatment at her household. A team from the local administration led by District Collector Shankar Narayan Das and tribal supervisor Rashmohan Roy later visited the family. He said that an expert team of vector borne disease experts would hold health camps in the area later.

The state government, however, denied the information and said no such death was reported till date.

In an official communiqué, the Department of Health and Family Welfare today admitted the death of one Bikash Tripura (02), son of Swapan Tripura of Lalmohanpara under Longtrai Reserve Forest in Dhalai district.

A source in the Dhalai district hospital said that Bikash was admitted at the Dhumacherra Primary Health Centre (PHC) on August 04wherefrom he was referred to Manu Community Health Centre (CHC) and finally to Dhalai district Hospital. The child died at the district hospital while undergoing treatment. Medical officers on duty denied liability of the death and claimed that Bikash was admitted in critical condition.
