SONAMURA, May 26 (TIWN): Peace disrupted at Sonamura subdivision in Tripura after a Hindu minor girl was kidnapped by a gang at there and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) came in massive protest.
Sonamura administration is suspecting the girl has been kidnapped and taken to Bangladesh.
Resented public had blocked the Highway pausing the vehicle movements totally on Saturday. They also gheraod the police station.
The incident took place at Tamsabari area when son of Jahangir Mia named Siam Mia had allegedly kidnapped a Hindu girl named Dipika Debnath, daughter of Tapan Debnath, resident of Sonamura near Sonamura Girls HS School.
Dipika's parents said, when on yesterday morning Dipika was going for her private tuition, she was kidnapped and taken into a car. Even after 24 hours of complaining, no action has been taken so far led the villagers to block the road.
The situation had worsened after Viswa Hindu Parishad had interfered in that issue, raising question, how a Muslim man can kidnap a Hindu girl ?
Sonamura SDM Saju Waheed said, due to the road blockade police are unable to operate properly. Almost all police have been here since three hours and in that gap opportunities are high that the girl might have been taken to Bangladesh already.
"The villagers must allow administration to take action, rather than blocking us", SDM said.
However, the blockade was withdrawn with the request of the SDM giving an ultimate time to find out the girl within today.
