AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): Following yesterday’s Akrosh-rally and arrests, the Congress today has alleged that after being arrested by police during the rally, they were not served even with minimum food and water.

Addressing a press meet, Congress leader Gopal Roy exposed, no permission was given for the rally which they had conducted on yesterday at Agartala city opposing the party offices demolitions.

Congress also staged a demonstration in front of Congress Bhawan with slogans of ‘Save Democracy, Save Country'.

Over 350 Congress leaders and workers were arrested on Thursday for holding a rally here to protest the decision to allow the BJP to form a government in Karnataka and the demolition of many party offices in Tripura by the saffron party-led government.

West Tripura District Police chief Ajit Pratap Singh said the Congress workers were arrested for holding the protest rally without permission. All were later released.
