AGARTALA, May 5 (TIWN): Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma in a skill development programme held at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan said, “There is a huge difference between Look East and Act East policies. The UPA Govt led by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had introduced Look East Policy but sadly to mention, the Look East Policy never worked before Prime Minister Narendra Modi modified it into Act-East-Policy”. “The Congress led UPA Govt was only looking at the East for long 10 years, whereas the BJP govt is actually working to develop the Northeast”, the Deputy CM said.“PM Modi said, his dream is to bring swaraj (self-dependence) in rural areas. Without it in villages' development is not possible. Swaraj means to able the villagers to stand on its own feel. Development in rural areas are utmost priority of our Govt. Without rural development, our country's development is never possible as 75 % of the country belongs to rural areas”, the Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma said.

“Country got geographical freedom in 1947, but the development has been very slow. Specially, the Northeastern states were heavily victimized due to deprivation. Even after Look East Policy, for long 10 years the govt was just looking without any action”, he said.

“It was only Prime Minister Narendra Modi who kicked off developmental works in this zone. Under PM Modi, various projects were launched, specially for the Northeast. At the same time various centrals schemes were introduced in these Northeastern states. Pressures were imposed upon various depts so that the projects can be implemented fully”, he said.

“Today I am very happy that under skill development, various youths have got jobs. We did not only trained them but appointed them with proper placements. Now, it’s up to the youths how to reach towards goals with their hard works and talents”, the Deputy CM added.
