AGARTALA, April 15 (TIWN): From house to house, the Pohela Baishakh was celebrated with full enthusiasm.
Family gatherings are the key of Pohela Baishakh and from home to home exchanges of sweets, greetings have been done since the morning.
Decorations with flowers have also been a traditional part of the Pohela Baishakh, was followed by girls, women of the houses.
However, they also exchanged gifts among the family members, friends and the close one.
Bengalis of all religious persuasions celebrate this secular holiday with music, song and, of course, plenty of good food.
Marked with celebrations throughout the week, the Basanti Puja fervour will be at its peak on Poila Boishakh, which is the first day of Boishakh, the first month of the Bengali calendar.
