UDAIPUR, April 5 (TIWN): In a successful drive, Tripura Police have arrested one ganja businessman at Udaipur today. The arrested person has been identified as Rajesh Sing, resident of Kolkata. He was carrying the ganjas (cannabis) from Kashba (Sepahijala Dist) towards Agartala. Police getting informed via secret sources had put ambush on the Amarpur Highway's Kajubadam Bagan area. In that trap, the truck met a minor accident and stopped. As soon as the truck was immovable, police nabbed the driver on spot. The vehicle bearing number AF19C8339 was seized. According to Maharani Police Station's information, total 25 packets of ganja was recovered. The total weight of the ganja packets is 330 kg.
The drive against anti-social elements was led by Maharani OC-Shankar Saha and SI Shyamal Majumder.
Tripura under CPI-M's regime had turned a den for narcotic nurturing centre as well as safe-corridor for smuggling. But the new govt as soon as assumed charges gave strict warning against ganja businessmen.
DGP A K Shukla also warned police, if any negligence in duty is found then s/he will be immediately suspended. On yesterday also at Dharnpur (Sonamura) huge numbers of phensedyl and ganja packets were recovered.
Udaipur Police have called public to forward their helping hands to police. It was mentioned by police, if anybody gets any information, they must not delay to tell the police. The informer's name will be kept hidden.
