AGARTALA, April 1 (TIWN): Based on an allegation of cow killing, today tension had emerged among the Viswa Hindu Parishad members and locals in Joynagar, which was however immediately controlled with police's swift action.

Today at South Jaynagar under AD Nagar Police Station Viswa Hindu Parishad members allegedly threatened locals to stop cow-killing forever. The VHP President Amal Chakraborty was also arrogantly banning cow-killing at there.

However, talking to TIWN, SP West Abhijit Saptarshi said, "Police has controlled the situation immediately. We told everyone, for not attempting to take law in hands and also nobody has right to that".

The SP in a statement said, "There was some verbal altercation over alleged cow killing between neighbours. A group of religious organization from outside came and demonstrated demanding action. Swiftly police intervened and dispersed the group. The area is totally peaceful now and police appealed to people for not believing rumours. Mischief mongers will be dealt with in strict manner".
