'Too much Corruption with MGNREGA funds under previous Govt' : CM says after returning from Delhi

AGARTALA, March 21 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb today after returning from Delhi with Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma announced that in the name of MGNREGA works, the previous Govt was 'too much' involved in money-embezzlement. "The former Govt brought prizes for MGNREGA works, but the reality is just pathetic than the awards. The fund releasing under RD was 2000 crore earlier, which later downed to 1000 crore and after that dropped at 500 crore. Earlier 25 parameters were shown in MGNREGA reports, whereas after Geo-tagging, 23 out of them resulted as fake parameters", CM said. "However, on the urgent basis Rs. 241 crore for rural development have been sanctioned by the Central Govt which will come in the next week", he said.

CM further said, "Our Govt believes in transparency and we will maintain that transparency. Whatever fund is coming, everything will be disclosed before media. Nothing will be hidden".  

Apart from MGNREGA CM also announced Rs. 350 crore to be sanctioned under Finance Dept, whereas for Higher Education and Education, the Central Govt to help fully.

Biplab Deb also mentioned that talks regarding 10323 teachers and SSA teachers' regularization were also held with MHRD Minister.

"Central Govt has assured to set up an Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT) in Tripura aimed to open opportunity for the software engineers. The previous Govt was never ready to work with PPP model but now things will be changed. At NIT Classes will be begun on immediate basis and infrastructural developments will also begin with it", he said.

Rs. 241 crore will also be given for urban developmental works. CM mentioned, due to the previous state govt failure to send utilization certificate the funds were deducted. 

A brief on Border fencing works and using CCTV cameras in borders was also announced by Chief Minister.
