AGARTALA, Feb 27 (TIWN): Tragic deaths, fatal road accidents are on spike here in Tripura. In every days at an average one person is being killed or seriously injured on the highways.
Hence 2017's record yet has not been disclosed but In December 2016 the number of accidents were 40 and 12 people died out of this, whereas 41 people were critically injured. In 2017, Januray month out of 42 accident cases 13 people died whereas more 44 left injured seriously.
Apart from that in 2015 only 158 people killed in road accident, whereas in 2014 188 people died. The number of accidents in 2014 was 716 and in number of accidents in 2015 was 647, revealing everyday 2 accidents held in Tripura.
Despite of taking several strict initiatives, yet road accidents has become rampant in the state.
Allegation has been raised that lack of awareness among the common mass and mostly the lack of strict law or official negligence are some of the major reasons behind the increasing number of road accidents.
Besides, the roads and footpaths across the state are in a deplorable condition for prolonged days. Most footpaths in the city have shed their topping and pedestrians have to be extra cautious while encountering the bumpy skeletal trails now. The roads are no better either since the topping that were given less than a year ago have developed into potholes.
Most importantly there is no control over the reckless driving as since the Charilam road became better the road accident at there have become more rampant.
