NE Polls : Ram Madhav alleged 'insurgency' under Meghalaya CM Mukul Sangma

AGARTALA, Feb 19 (TIWN): BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav today condemning Meghalaya Election candidate Jonathone N Sangma's killing alleged that Meghalaya is undergoing an insurgency under CM Mukul Sangma.

Ram Madhav was addressing media here at Krishnanagar party headquarter in Agartala.

"The candidate's killing along with two more security personnel exposes the lawless condition of the state under Sangma. Since decades, the govt there failed to bring development to the insurgency problems", added Madhav.

"Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed concerned about the law and order at there.

Noteworthy, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday used the killing of a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate to underline the “lawlessness in Congress-ruled”.

On the other side, Condemning his death, CM Mukul Sangma said that ‘desperate act will not be tolerated.’ Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear about the unexpected loss of Jonathone N Sangma. My heartfelt condolences to his near and dear ones. The blood of innocents spilled by the enemies of the state will not disturb peace in Meghalaya. This desperate act will not be tolerated. The perpetrators of the crime will be apprehended expeditiously and brought to book.”

Four people, including Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate Jonathone Nengminza Sangma, were killed while three others injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in poll-bound Meghalaya's East Garo Hills district on Sunday, an official said.

The incident took place around 7.30 p.m. at Sawilgre village, about 14 km from Samanda Block, when the candidate was returning to Williamnagar, the district headquarters of East Garo Hills from poll campaigning.
