MATABARI , UDAIPUR, August 28 (TIWN): The serial deaths of fishes in ‘divine waterbody’ Kalyan Sagar of the Tripurasundari Temple continues on Wednesday as well. On wednesday 60 fishes died but more importantly a Govt official in SDM Office Udaipur told TIWN that even on 23rd July six fishes died no such information was conveyed to SDM Udaipur. As a result of it, no step was taken for any kind of impending disaster. The official also said that the biodiversity of Kalyan Sagar has been already damaged and water of this pond itself has become unfit for use. Kalyansagar also home of rare N Nigricans Turtles which is declared “extinct” in wild by IUCN ( International Union for Conservation of Nature).

MataBari is now more than 515 years old and as per information no repairing has been done on theake during the last 400 years or more. The lower layer of the slush is totally polluted and intact the amount of dissolved Oxygen has reduced considerably. Most serious allegation is about the justification of constructing the cemented embarkments on the banks of Kalyan Sagar . This is totally unscientific and really unreakistic steps on the part of the administration.  TIWN has investigated on this crucial issue and found out some serious irregularities as far as ongoing activities on Kalyan Sagar is concerned. A top level official in the DM Gomati's office told TIWN that immediately the following problems need to be addressed :

1) Immediately the water of the Kalyan Sagar must be dislodged and the lower later of soil must be cut off

2) Cemented embarkments must be bull-dozed immediately

3) At present there is no drainage system for transfer the water in other places; passages for water transfer must be constructed immediately

4) A huge amount of fund was utilized from MataBari R D Block for the construction of cemented embarkments( in 1998) and it was totally illegal as far as bio-diversity of Kakyan Sagar is concerned

5) The entire MataBari Temple Complex and its adjacent areas must be declared plastic free and polluted elements free zone

6) A DCM with independent charge of MataBari must be posted immediately . For the SDM it is almost impossible to look after the regular affairs of Matabri as well as the regular duties.

7)  DM Gomati, who is in the Sevait of Matabari temple can easily arrange the same in consultation with the Chief Secretary

8) Puffed rice and biscuits that are thrown in Kalyan Sagar must be stopped

9) The waste and garbage accumulated in Mata Bari Kalyan Sugar must be cleared off

10) Immediate steps should be taken as per the advice of experts visiting MataBari time to time

 However, the official also said that unless these are taken it is impossible to maintain the biodiversity of the Kalyan Sagar .
