AGARTALA, Jan 27 (TIWN): Lawless Tripura’s bypass area at Amtali-Agartala have turned as corridor for cow smuggling and illegal drug business spanning across Indo-Bangladesh corridor. When after multiple complains to the local police about cow theft cases at there, no action was taken properly, today locals decided to nab the culprits on spot. Since the morning the locals were waiting for the cattle thieves arriving and after certain times four vehicles were seen moving suspiciously. The locals then attacked the vehicles and ran after them, but two of the vehicles escaped from the spot whereas two were caught. According to police source, both of the drivers are now admitted in GB hospital in serious condition as they were mass-beaten. Police is further investigating the case and also tracking the rest two vehicles.
The locals said, “The bundles of phenesedyl packets were recovered from 2 vehicles at bypass road today by totally locals attempts. Total 4 vehciles were carrying the phensedyls towards Agartala.We ran after the vehicles and successfully nabbed two vehicles, whereas two vehicles managed to escape from the spot”.
Police have noted the numbers of the escaped vehicles. The seized items worths above Rs. 25 lakhs, a police source said.
