New Delhi, Oct 14 : Jharkhand to have two-phase assembly polls on November 13 and 20, results on November 23.
“The total number of voters in Jharkhand is about 2.6 crores and the state will have two-phase elections this time,” the CEC Rajiv Kumar said while announcing the dates.
The current Jharkhand assembly's term will end on January 5, 2025. Besides Jharkhand, the Election Commission has also announced the poll date for Maharashtra. The state will go to polls in a single phase on November 20.
Addressing a press conference, Kumar said that polling in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20, with votes being counted on November 23. A total of 2.60 crore voters are eligible to cast votes in Jharkhand and there are 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters.
The state has 11.84 lakh first-time voters and 66.84 lakh young voters. Kumar said the date Gazette notification for the two phases will be issued on October 18 and 22, respectively. The last date for making nominations for the two phases is October 25 and 29, the date for scrutiny of nominations is October 28 and 30 and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is October 30 and November 1, respectively.
