New Delhi, Aug 6 : ‘Sheikh Hasina was in shock : Indian government was giving her time to recover before it spoke to her over various issues, including her future plans’ : S. Jaishankar at all-party meeting.
In response to a question posed by Rahul Gandhi regarding the potential involvement of foreign powers in the Bangladesh unrest, Jaishankar did not dismiss the possibility, leaving room for further investigation and consideration.
On Tuesday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar briefed an all-party meeting, including Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, on the situation in Bangladesh. He assured that India has reached out to Bangladesh's army chief to guarantee the safety of over 10,000 Indian students in the country.
Regarding Sheikh Hasina, who fled Dhaka and arrived in Ghaziabad on Monday, Jaishankar stated that she was in a state of shock and needed time to recover before discussing her future plans and other issues with the Indian government.
Jaishankar also addressed Rahul Gandhi's inquiry about potential foreign involvement in the Bangladesh unrest, leaving open the possibility without ruling it out. He emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the evolving situation.
