NEW DELHI, Aug 6 : The Central government has convened an all-party meeting on Tuesday to discuss the situation in Bangladesh. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will brief leaders of all political parties on the situation in the violence-struck nation and the steps taken by the Indian government, according to sources.

In addition to EAM Jaishankar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will represent the Central government at the meeting.

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting at his official residence, where he was briefed on the crisis in Bangladesh. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval informed the Prime Minister about his meeting with former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the latest political developments in the neighboring country.

Union Ministers Shah and Singh, EAM Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and several senior officials attended the meeting to assess the situation.

Earlier on Monday, Hasina arrived in India after resigning as Bangladesh's Prime Minister and leaving Dhaka. She landed at the Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad on a Bangladesh Air Force military transport plane, as thousands of protesters stormed and vandalized the Prime Minister's official residence in Dhaka.

India will provide comprehensive logistical support as Hasina seeks asylum in the UK. Her stay in India is temporary, pending her relocation to the UK.

The house of Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was reportedly set on fire in Dhanmondi, an upscale area of the Bangladesh capital. As Hasina left for India, Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman confirmed her resignation and announced that an interim government would be formed soon.

The Army chief will meet President Mohammed Shahabuddin to chart the future course of action. Over 100 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured in clashes between police and protesters on Sunday.

The student-led non-cooperation movement had been pressuring Hasina's government over the past few weeks, protesting against a 30% reservation in government jobs for relatives of freedom fighters who fought for Bangladesh's independence from Pakistan in 1971."
