Chandigarh, Feb 23 : Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Amit Rattan Kotfatta was arrested in a bribery case by the Vigilance Bureau, an official said on Thursday.
The congressman was detained a few days after the Punjab Vigilance Directorate detained his accused close aide Rashim Garg in connection with the same issue.
Amit Rattan Kotfatta has been arrested, a top official of the bureau informed. The official claimed that the MLA was taken into custody after being taken from Rajpura on February 22 in the evening. The official stated that he will appear in court on Thursday to request his remand. Rashim Garg was detained on February 16 as a result of a complaint made by the husband of a Ghuda village chief in Bathinda. He said that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 5 lakh in exchange for releasing a Rs. 25 lakh government grant.
