Guwahati, Oct 22 (TIWN) Three jawans of the Assam Rifles, along with a civilian, were arrested and heroin valued at over Rs 1 crore recovered from them in Assam's Dibrugarh district early on Friday, police said.
The police arrested the accused from National Highway-37 near Jokai on Friday morning. The accused were driving a car from Dimapur, Nagaland to Tinsukia, Assam. Police recovered 269 grams of heroin from another vehicle. According to Dibrugarh district Superintendent of Police (SP) Shwetank Mishra, a police team intercepted their vehicle and detained four people based on intelligence input. “During questioning, the accused told the police that heroin was hidden in another vehicle and kept at a location in Dergaon, Golaghat district,” a top police officer said.
