Mumbai, July 14 (TIWN) In an "eco-friendly move", the Bombay High Court has permitted the use of A4-size paper printed on both sides for filing of pleadings before all its benches, with lower courts due to follow soon.
A Bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni was informed by advocate SR Nargolkar appearing for the High Court administration that a notification to that effect had been issued amending the Bombay High Court (Appellate Side) Rules, 1960 and Bombay High Court (Original Side) Rules, 1980 so as to implement the use of A4 paper printed on both sides. He submitted that the notification had also been issued in the gazette on July 6, 2021. In view of this notification, the petition stood redressed, he submitted. Advocate PR Katneshwarkar appearing for the petitioner, Mumbai lawyer Ajinkya Udane, enquired if the notification was applicable to subordinate courts in Maharashtra. Nargolkar informed that the notification was applicable only to the High Courts (which includes all of the benches) as of now.
