New Delhi, June 28 (TIWN) Amid infighting in the Punjab Congress, sulking party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu is expected to meet Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday. This meeting is ahead of the Congress peace formula which is to be given by the AICC and rejig in Punjab unit -- both in the government and in the organization.
Sidhu, who quit as a minister from the Punjab cabinet in 2019 after his portfolio was changed, has openly targeted Amarinder Singh, much to the discomfort of the Congress. Rahul Gandhi has been holding discussions with senior party members and ministers from Punjab to find a solution to the crisis in the state unit. Incidentally, neither Sonia Gandhi nor Rahul had met Amarinder Singh when he was in Delhi to discuss the party matters with other senior party leaders. The Congress has also formed a three-member panel to end factionalism and strengthen the party in the state ahead of next year's assembly elections. The panel chaired by leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and comprising AICC general secretary incharge of Punjab affairs Harish Rawat and former MP JP Aggarwal has suggested a revamp of the state unit to accommodate all sections.
