KOLKATA, May 3 : A day after leading Trinamool Congress to a historic victory in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee vowed to move court over the Nandigram result where she lost to her former protégé-turned-rival Suvendu Adhikari.
“I received an SMS from someone wherein Returning Officer of Nandigram has written to someone if he allows recounting then his life would be under threat. For four hours server was down, Governor also congratulated me. Suddenly everything changed,” Banerjee said at a press meet. The TMC chief also said that she will move court over the Nandigram result, asking how come the Election Commission reversed the result after formally announcing it. Banerjee lost the Nandigram seat, which was the cynosure of all eyes due to its high octane election, to BJP star candidate and her former close aide Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday by a margin of 1,956 votes. Several media initially reported that Banerjee had defeated Adhikari though there was no confirmation from the Election Commission, sparking confusion on who had actually bagged the crucial seat. However, the poll panel later confirmed that Adhikari bagged 1,10,764 votes and Banerjee managed to win 1,08808 votes.
