Fire claims 8 Covid patients in Ahmedabad hospital

Gandhinagar, Aug 6 (IANS) A major fire in the ICU ward of a private dedicated Covid hospital in Ahmedabad claimed the lives of eight patients, including 5 men and 3 women in the wee hours on Thursday. One seriously burnt patient is being treated while 40 other patients have been evacuated and shifted to the SVP hospital in Ahmedabad.
The victims include five men and three women, who were being treated at the ICU ward of the Covid-19 designated Shrey Hospital in Navrangpura area of Ahmedabad, the official said. Fire broke out around 3.30 am on Thursday, he said. Around 40 other Covid-19 patients at the facility were rescued and shifted to a civic hospital in the city, he said.
