Kolkata, July 13 (TIWN): A suicide note has been recovered from deceased BJP MLA Debendra Nath Roy’s pocket during investigations, confirmed the West Bengal Police. The Hemtabad BJP MLA’s body was found hanging outside a closed mobile shop at Balia, Deben More in Raigunj in North Dinajpur district this morning. The spot happens to be one kilometre away from his residence.
The MLA’s family demanded a probe alleging he had been murdered. West Bengal Police in its statement said that the suicide note names two persons who have been held responsible for his death. A forensic team and tracker dog will be used by the West Bengal Police to probe this case.
West Bengal Governor without mincing words, stated, “Police stance at atop that this ‘suicide’ is indicative of cover-up- smacks with police prejudice, not without obvious intention,” Demanding the autopsy is videographed by an expert team as per the SC directive to maintain “highest transparency” Meanwhile, the BJP has taken to social media to condemn the death and alleging a breakdown of law and order while directly taking aim at CM Mamata Banerjee.
BJP President JP Nadda tweeted, “The suspected heinous killing of Debendra Nath Ray, BJP MLA from Hemtabad in West Bengal, is extremely shocking and deplorable. This speaks of Gunda Raj and failure of law and order in Mamata Govt. People will not forgive such a govt in the future. We strongly condemn this.” BJP National General Secretary Rahul Sinha demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
