AGARTALA, June 2 (TIWN): Mizo Convention General Secretary Zairemthiama Pachuau has apologized for calling Tripura's Royal Scion Pradyot Manikya ‘Communal’ and Tripura Kings as 'Cowards'.

"It is with great concern and worry that my social media (facebook) post in my reaction to the facebook statement- and video-posts made by Maharaja Pradyot Bikram Manikya DebBarma has caused hurt feelings to him personally and in general to the multitudes of his subjects within Tripura state and beyond", the Mizo Convention General Secretary said.

Mizo Convention General Secretary Zairemthiama Pachuau's Statement

Please allow me to categorically state that causing hurt to His Highness or to any person coming across my facebook post has never been my intention. However, after thorough scrutiny of certain vocabulary and sentence used in my post and through constructive criticisms and advices I received from circle of friends and colleagues, I discovered and admit that I have erred on certain points and felt that it is imperative to make amends and apologise on the following points:

1. The inappropriate vocabularies that I used with regards to the ancestors of His Highness and his people. Allow me to make it known to everyone that I have deep appreciation and great respect to the Royal lineages and their subjects, and to their tremendous contributions and positive influence on the people of Tripura.

2. Labeling His Highness as “the most communal person in Tripura” by me has been inappropriate and great error on my part.

3. On the other contentious issues raised in my post, if there has been particular issue(s) that hurt the feelings of an individual, a group or a particular community, I seek to emphasize that it has not been my intention to cause hurt and hence I make an apology if it does so.

The particular post in question is a personal casual social media (facebook) post of mine and has got nothing to do with my profession, religion, community and vocation.

With much appreciation, love, prayer and good will to all.
