AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): Although Tripura Govt is arranging Shramik Trains for the stranded migrant workers of Tripura, but a larger section of people can’t see any solution of their problems and left stranded. In a shocking update it was known that at least 17 migrant workers of West Bengal started for home by feet, was spotted by locals and police at the far areas of Agartala, provided them with food and other items. Same situations are being faced by Rajasthan and other states’ people, who are neither get any help from Tripura Govt or their own State’s Govt. The workers have begged the Govts to relief them from the miseries. Earlier, Tripura Govt alleged ‘lack of cooperation’ from West Bengal Govt.

When state is reeling under such crisis situations, connecting a group of migrant workers in Corona-spreading network, Viswa Hindu Parishad in Agartala has harassed a group of stranded migrants from West Bengal’s Maldha District.The Viswa Hindu Parishad amid Lockdown, was campaigning house to house (as per VHP’s self given statement) and they saw these migrant workers and asked for their identity. 

Then police were called. But talking to media, Police said, the migrant workers have all valid documents with them and this is not a case of Bangladeshi intrusion. Later, police took them for further verification. The migrant workers want to go back to home state and that’s why they were going to meet the local minority leader in Battala in Agartala but Viswa Hindu parishad harassed them, causing mass gathering and tension.

On Saturday, migrant workers of Rajasthan alleged that they are bound to live in miserable sitiations due to reluctancy of the State Govt of Tripura. Also, Tripura Congress on yesterday, has exposed the BJP led State Govt’s financial helping issues, saying, ‘Tripura Govt is only carrying the travel cost of the brick industry workers but not other stranded people who are working in different sectors’.

After meeting the District Magistrate of West Tripura, Dr. Sandeep Mahatme, Congress senior leader Adv Harekrishna Bhowmik has said so. He said, brick industry sectors already donated in CM’s relief fund and they are getting helps but in case of other stranded people in Agartala, Govt is only issuing passes for them, saying, Agartala is in Green Zone.
