New Delhi, May 3 (TIWN) Many parts of Delhi and its surrounding areas witnessed rain on Sunday, bringing down the mercury several notches to give respite to residents.
The India Meteorological Department had predicted thunderstorm with squall or hail on Sunday due to Western Disturbance in the region.
Light rain and thunderstorms are likely to persist for another three days, the weatherman predicted.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 37.9 degrees Celsius, and the minimum 25.5 degrees. Humidity levels oscillated between 93 and 53 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was in "moderate" category at 106 microgram per cubic metre.
According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, "under the influence of Western Disturbance isolated rain is expected and the AQI is likely to improve to satisfactory category on May 4."
High easterly surface winds are likely to continue in Delhi, which is favorable for good air quality.
"Dust-raising surface winds are likely over Rajasthan," it added.
