New Delhi, Jan 13 (TIWN) Accusing the Congress of betraying the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) despite giving outside support to the government in Rajasthan, party supremo Mayawati on Monday made it clear that her party would not be attending the Opposition meeting called by United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
As per sources, Shiv Sena will not be a part of the Opposition meet called by Sonia Gandhi. Sources in Shiv Sena said they had not received any invitation for the Opposition meeting. The Bahujan Samaj Party led by Mayawati is also not attending the meet. Sources in the BSP said the party may not send a representative at the meet due to its differences with the Congress. Mayawati tweeted on Monday, "Even after the BSP provided outside support to the Congress-led Rajasthan Government, they have, for the second time, influenced BSP MLAs to join their party, which is unfaithful." "In such a situation, joining a meeting led by the Congress leadership will be demoralising the party people in Rajasthan, and that is why BSP will not joining the meeting called by the Congress." "However, the BSP is against CAA, NRC. There is again an appeal from the BSP to the Centre to withdraw this divisive and unconstitutional Law. Also, it is unfortunate to politicize students in JNU and other educational institutions," she added in another tweet. Similarly, Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress has already announced its decision to stay away from the meet. This comes after Mamata Banerjee had accused the Congress of slowing down her state during the Bharat Bandh in protest of CAA.
