Srinagar, Oct 5 (TIWN) At least 10 people were injured on Saturday in a grenade explosion near the District Commissioner's office in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag, police said.

Terrorists hurled a grenade on a security patrol outside the heavily guarded complex in Anantnag town, 55 km from Srinagar, around 11 am, an official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

However, terrorists missed the target with the grenade exploding on the roadside, causing injuries to five people.

Of the 10 injured, which included a 12-year-old, a traffic cop and a journalist, three sustained critical injuries in the attack. The area has been cordoned off by security forces and a hunt has been launched to nab the terrorists behind the attack.

No outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

This is the second attack on security forces in the Kashmir Valley since the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

On September 28, terrorists had hurled a grenade at CRPF personnel in downtown Srinagar. They had, however, missed the target.

The grenade was hurled at CRPF's 38 battalion personnel deployed on law and order duty in Nawa Kadal area.

On the same day, three terrorists were killed in an encounter with the Army in Batote area along the Jammu-Kishtwar highway. An Army jawan was also killed in the exchange of fire.
