Assam to appoint 1,600 employees for Foreigners' Tribunals

Guwahati, Sep 30 (TIWN) The Assam government is planning to appoint about 1,600 contractual employees to man the 200 new Foreigners' Tribunals, which have been set up recently in the state.

Meanwhile, all the 221 newly appointed FT members (200 for additional FTs and 21 for the vacant posts in the existing foreigners tribunals) have been attached to the existing 100 FTs so as to make them get first-hand knowledge of FT functioning.  On the other hand, the State Home and Political Department, in collaboration with the Judicial Academy, is going to hold a two-day orientation programme for the newly appointed FT members at Assam Administrative Staff College at Khanapara here on September 28 and 29, 2019.

The new FT members will be briefed on the procedure to be followed right from the issuance of the notice to giving the opinion – appreciation of evidences in the references of proceedings, relevant Acts and Rules, duties and responsibilities, etc. Besides the top brass of the Home and Political Department, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Justice PK Deka, Justice KR Surana and others will attend the orientation programme as resource persons.
