Ponung Doming becomes Arunachal's first woman officer to be appointed as Lieutenant Colonel in Indian Army

New Delhi, Sep 25 (TIWN): In Army official from Arunachal Pradesh, Ponung Doming, created history after she became the first woman officer from the state to hold the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army.
Doming was elevated from the post of a Major to that of a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army on Monday. Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Ponung Doming on her achievement and tweeted, "Major Ponung Doming creates history. She is the first woman Army officer from Arunachal to be elevated to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army. Hearty congratulations and best wishes!" Pema Khandu said that it was "a proud moment for all of us." He also tweeted a picture of Ponung Doming standing proud and tall.
